Jasper Johns Target Paintings

The second graders and took a look at the artist Jasper Johns today! We talked about how he chose to paint things that are recognizable symbols like the American flag, numbers and targets. We also talked about the texture that was found in his paintings. Students crumpled up a magazine page to create real texture on their painting surface. Then using a sharpie, students drew the target symbol and used tempera paint to add color!
