Symmetrical Houses

Second graders just finished up learning about symmetry in art. In this project students designed their own "symmetrical" houses. We folded a piece of paper in half and drew one half of our house. Then we traced it with a sharpie, students then flipped their paper inside out and traced their drawing onto the other half of their paper! Perfect symmetry!

Straw Painted Winter Trees

The fifth grade students used watercolor paints and a straw to paint these beautiful winter trees! We used tempera paint to add snow on the ground and branches!

Catching Snowflakes

In this project second grade students used construction paper, yarn, and paint to make self portraits of themselves catching snowflakes on their tongues!

Line Vases

The first graders have been learning about all kinds of lines so far this quarter! In this project students first made a collage of lines using construction paper strips and oil pastels. Students were instructed to draw as many different lines as they could think of. Then we used that collage to cut out a vase. We then added white daisies with torn paper petals!

Fly Away Balloon Art!

The sixth graders did a collaborative project for their fly away balloon art.  We all had our own stamp pad and went around the room leaving our fingerprints and each person's paper for the balloon cluster.  Student were instructed to draw something that represents themselves in contour line style drawing at the bottom of them balloons.

Patterned Mittens

The kindergartners finished off their pattern unit with these lovely patterned mittens!  Students used oil pastels to create their pattern then cut it out and glued it to black construction paper.  Snowflakes were added for a little extra chilly winter charm!
